  • Licensing:
Starting in REM/Rate 2023, the licensing model has changed to provide more control for the Provider. Key features of the new model are:
    • Each user to have their own unique username and password. This locks the software to a specific computer.
    • Sharing of usernames and passwords are no longer permitted. Where they are shared, the user is asked to “register” their copy software with the Provider and is automatically given a new username and password to use.
    • Customizations are controlled by the license, not the RATEK.ini file. This allows for faster distribution of new customizations.
    • Enhanced user administration for Providers in the web interface. Providers can
      • Add new users with custom expiration dates and print profiles.
      • Approve or reject current users who register their unique copy of REM/Rate when upgrading from a shared license.
      • Perform other administration tasks to solve issues with their user’s license.
    • Backward compatible with 16.3.4 and prior versions of REM/Rate. Once registered, new usernames and passwords are automatically migrated to these old versions.
    NREL Engine:
REM/Rate 2023 contains the latest version of the NREL engine. It provides the latest checks from ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301-2019.
    Navigation Tree:
The Navigation Tree displays all the data in a building in a tree structure that mimics the input pages. It also shows the relationships among building components, such as the windows and doors that are on a wall. This allows the user to quickly move through the building to visualize and validate each component. Additionally, the Navigation Tree:
    • Automatically updated when new data is entered in the input pages.
    • Automatically brings up the corresponding input page when an item in the tree is selected.
    • Can be selected or fully expanded or collapsed as needed.
    • Can be printed or saved to file for easy reference.
    • Replaces the navigation "hands".
    HotFixes:
REM/Rate 2023 will continue using HotFixes model of where bug fixes and enhancements are contained within a HotFix bundle. These will include:
    • New standards that are supported by the engine.
    • Interface enhancements.
    • Bug fixes.
    • RESNET registration changes
    • All other enhancements that do not require either a building change or a different engine.
